Quantum Transmission Line Modeling Method and Its Application to Quantum Dot Amplifiers
ABSTRACT:
During this paper, a replacement transmission line modeling technique is introduced to determine a photon emission model, which is called quantum transmission line modeling technique (Q-TLM). Based on Q-TLM, a new model for a quantum dot structure is established, and it had been found that Q-TLM will accurately describe the gain and spontaneous emission spectra of quantum dot structures. Furthermore, the Q-TLM technique is used to investigate the femtosecond pulse amplification within the quantum dot amplifier in the time-frequency domain. The new modeling technique that mixes the quantum statistic and photon-electron interaction process descriptions provides an engaging tool to predict the temporal and spectral performance of semiconductor optical devices.
