PROJECT TITLE :
Survey of End-to-End Mobile Network Measurement Testbeds, Tools, and Services
ABSTRACT:
Mobile (cellular) networks enable innovation, but will additionally stifle it and cause user frustration when network performance falls below expectations. As mobile networks become the predominant method of Internet access, developer, analysis, network operator, and regulatory communities have taken an increased interest in measuring finish-to-finish mobile network performance to, among other goals, minimize negative impact on application responsiveness. During this survey, we have a tendency to examine current approaches to finish-to-finish mobile network performance measurement, diagnosis, and application prototyping. We tend to compare accessible tools and their shortcomings with respect to the requirements of developers, researchers, network operators, and regulators. We tend to intend for this survey to provide a comprehensive read of currently active efforts and a few auspicious directions for future work in mobile network measurement and mobile application performance evaluation.
