PROJECT TITLE :
A Novel Contra-Rotating Power Split Transmission System for Wind Power Generation and Its Dual MPPT Control Strategy - 2017
ABSTRACT:
This paper proposes a replacement brushless contra-rotating power split transmission (CR-PST) system for the direct-drive wind power generation. The core element of this system could be a doubly fed twin-rotor flux-modulation permanent magnet machine, that has 2 contra-rotating rotors connected with 2 wind blades to absorb the wind energy, and 2 sets of stator windings to realize torque split between the 2 shafts. This proposed CR-PST system has compact structure and bidirectional flux-modulation style, in addition to increased wind power conversion efficiency. Compared with the standard wind turbine system, which will solely work with single most power point tracking (MPPT) management strategy, the proposed CR-PST system can collect increased wind energy with dual MPPT method for the given wind speed. Time-stepping finite-part method is used to research the steady and dynamic performance of the proposed system and also the management strategy is verified by experiments and simulation results.
