Incremental updates based on graph theory for consumer electronic devices


This paper presents a methodology for incremental updating on client electronic devices, referred to as differential compression based on Dijkstra algorithm (DDIFF). It describes the similarities between the recent and new versions as a directed weighted graph. Within the graph, the shortest path between the beginning and finish vertices corresponds to the minimal delta. Thence, the delta-encoding problem is reduced to the only-source shortest path drawback. Experiments show that the proposed technique is possible, and average information transmission saving is as high as 69.three%. Compared with the existing strategies, DDIFF constructs the minimal patch, and the patch prices less time to apply1.
