PROJECT TITLE :

Distributed Optical Parametric Amplification at 1.3 $mu$: Performance and Applications in Optical Access Networks

ABSTRACT:

The gain and noise properties of distributed optical parametric amplification at 1.3 $mu{rm m}$ in typical single-mode fibers are numerically investigated. The analysis shows remarkable amplification performance over 100 km of single-mode optical fiber. The potential of direct use of the method in next-generation passive optical networks is numerically demonstrated.
