PROJECT TITLE :

Miniaturized Dual-Band Omnidirectional Antenna for Body Area Network Basestations

ABSTRACT:

Challenges arising from body result in style of implant and on-body antennas has dominated body space network (BAN) basestation antenna design research. But, design of an economical basestation antenna in a compact size is additionally a challenge. This letter presents a miniaturized omnidirectional antenna in two bands of 403.five MHz for medical implant communication services (MICS) and a couple of.45 GHz for industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) applications. The antenna consists of 2 stacked center-fed circular patch over a circular ground plane. The higher and lower patches resonate in MICS and ISM bands, respectively. Every patch is loaded with 2 vias for miniaturization. The achieved miniaturization factors are half dozen.3 and five.1 for MICS and ISM bands, respectively. Since the TM010-mode is happy, the pattern is omnidirectional with a null in broadside. The measurement results show a good agreement with the simulation in terms of reflection coefficient and radiation pattern.
