PROJECT TITLE :

Power converters, control, and energy management for distributed generation

ABSTRACT:

Distributed generation (DG) is anticipated to play a important role in the long run to enhance the quality of human life. DG and its integration to the local AC grid give choices for economical, continuous, and bidirectional power flow (utility interface). As well, it provides a back-up to support throughout grid failure or blackouts. Intensive promotion of the DC grid is additionally proposed for the long run to facilitate simple integration of renewable resources. Low-voltage DC grid derived from DG is safe and could cover a vital portion of residential load, that is principally DC load avoiding inefficient AC/DC power offer. Vehicles within the smart grid have introduced a concept of living and mobility, i.e., sustainable living and low carbon mobility and are foreseen as a part of future microgrid. Analysis is needed to push and commercialize these technologies to form the surroundings clean by replacing standard generation systems. This Special Section on Power Converters, Control, and Energy Management for Distribution Generation of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, may be a revolution to market and encourage intensive investigations within the areas associated with DG. In all, 16 papers were selected, which have one or more very unique options for the proposed applications. The topics vary from new high gain DC/DC converters to inverters for solar PV integration on one facet and development of effective test bed to brushless generation systems for potential DG applications on the opposite. To facilitate an in-depth survey of the revealed papers, the Guest Editors examine one at a time the various contributions by highlighting the most noteworthy developments and findings.
