PROJECT TITLE :

Toward a Hermeneutics of Data

ABSTRACT:

Information science is the systematic process of creating, building, and organizing information with knowledge. A chunk of data while not context is without meaning, but when information is place into context it becomes meaningful info to people and machines, and it might acquire a lot of contextual info over time. Data's impact on society and studies of information have reached a purpose for which it's currently time for historians of computing to historicize knowledge directly. In truth, computing historians are uniquely positioned to probe the entanglement of networked infrastructures, data, and cultures of computing within the recent past and close to future.
