A Synergetic Use of Bloom Filters for Error Detection and Correction
Bloom filters (BFs) give a quick and economical approach to check whether a given part belongs to a collection. The BFs are utilized in numerous applications, for example, in communications and networking. There's conjointly ongoing research to extend and enhance BFs and to use them in new scenarios. Reliability is turning into a challenge for advanced electronic circuits as the quantity of errors because of manufacturing variations, radiation, and reduced noise margins increase as technology scales. During this transient, it's shown that BFs will be used to detect and proper errors in their associated information set. This permits a synergetic reuse of existing BFs to conjointly detect and proper errors. This can be illustrated through an example of a counting BF used for IP traffic classification. The results show that the proposed scheme will effectively correct single errors within the associated set.
