Parallel Architecture for Battery Charge Equalization

ABSTRACT:

One limitation of the many battery charge equalizers is their slow equalization speed, especially when there are a large range of batteries within the series-string in high-voltage and high-power applications. This paper presents a brand new architecture for battery charge equalization. In this design, independent equalizers are placed in numerous layers and every one the layers can equalize the corresponding batteries simultaneously, therefore reducing equalization time by fiftypercent. We tend to explore the operation, performance characteristics, and the planning of the architecture. Each simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the analysis in this paper.
