An Animated Introduction to Relational Databases for Many Majors


Database technology affects many disciplines beyond pc science and business. This paper describes two animations developed with images and color that visually and dynamically introduce elementary relational database ideas and querying to students of many majors. The goal is for educators in various educational disciplines to include the animations in their existing courses in order to fulfill their pedagogical desires. The introduction of the animations was assessed and evaluated among several contexts, as well as non-majors courses offered by laptop scientists also a course on computational molecular biology. The analysis indicated that student information of fundamental database concepts improved significantly with the use of the courseware. The animations give visual learners with an participating technique to be told the topics presented with the ability to replay the dynamic presentation. Overall, the analysis indicates the accessibility of database topics across the disciplines along with the precise ideas that need further elaboration.
