PROJECT TITLE :
Facilitating observational study for comparative effectiveness research
ABSTRACT :
Comparative effectiveness research (CER) compares the benefits and harms of alternative methods to forestall, diagnose, treat, and monitor a clinical condition or to boost the delivery of look after a specific cluster of patients. With the appearance of clinical info systems, e.g., the electronic medical record, observational studies play an increasingly important role in generating clinical proof for CER. From an info technology perspective, we establish four challenges associated with CER: one) compliance with recommended procedures in epidemiology, a pair of) efficient discovery of probably attention-grabbing hypotheses, three) correct use of the acceptable statistical ways in hypothesis testing, and 4) the suitable presentation and interpretation of results. To address these challenges, we tend to propose a new system On-demand Comparative Effectiveness Research Accelerator (OCERA). The new system will facilitate observational studies for CER and assist clinical researchers in effectively and efficiently conducting high-quality CER studies.
