A Process Algebraic Approach to Resource-Parameterized Timing Analysis of Automotive Software Architectures

ABSTRACT:

Modern automotive software elements are often initial developed by totally different suppliers and then integrated underneath restricted resources by a manufacturer. The combination of software parts under numerous resource configurations is susceptible to timing errors because the elements are resources independently designed by the provider and viewed by the manufacturer as black boxes during the integration stage, thus that imposing resource constraints/needs on their behavior may be a challenge. This paper introduces an engineering awareness surroundings for the analysis of automotive systems with respect to two views: one) time-aware style models that correspond to the supplier perspective; and 2) resource-aware design models imposed by the manufacturer during integration. To the present end, first we tend to propose 2 timed behavioral models, a time-constrained model (TcM) and a resource-constrained model (RcM) that are extended from a purposeful model (FM). A timing analysis of applications can hence be conducted incrementally by adopting the separation of considerations principle coming from the model-driven architectures (MDAs). Second, given a basic application part description of AUTomotive Open System Architecture with timing properties, we specify a way to define the behavior of the basic parts as process terms employing a method algebra, algebra of communicating shared resources with worth passing (ACSR-VP), so as to take advantage of the description capability of the language for both timing aspects and resource-constrained aspects of a system. Thence, a timed behavioral model of a system will be seamlessly refined by numerous resource configurations, and each platform-freelance and platform-dependent timing properties of real-time systems will be analyzed during a consistent and efficient manner.
