Parameter Control in Evolutionary Algorithms: Trends and Challenges


More than a decade after the primary in depth overview on parameter control, we tend to revisit the field and gift a survey of the state-of-the-art. We briefly summarize the development of the field and discuss existing work connected to each major parameter or part of an evolutionary algorithm. Based on this overview, we tend to observe trends in the realm, determine some (methodological) shortcomings, and provide recommendations for future research.
