PROJECT TITLE :
Underwater Visual Computing: The Grand Challenge Just around the Corner
ABSTRACT:
Visual computing technologies have historically been developed for typical setups where air is the encircling medium for the user, the display, and/or the camera. However, given mankind's increasingly want to depend on the oceans to solve the problems of future generations (like offshore oil and gas, renewable energies, and marine mineral resources), there is a growing would like for mixed-reality applications to be used in water. This article highlights the numerous analysis challenges when changing the medium from air to water, introduces the concept of underwater mixed environments, and presents recent developments in underwater visual computing applications.
