Three-octave band in-phase power divider using loosely coupled microstrip lines and microstrip to slotline transitions


A planar microwave in-section power divider operating over 3-octave frequency band is presented. The proposed device is composed of 2 main parts. The primary one may be a combine of microstrip–slotline–microstrip transitions introduced to match the impedances at the input port. The other is a pair of loosely coupled microstrip lines with 2 isolation resistors to produce improved isolation performance at the output ports over a big selection of frequency band. The device encompasses a compact space of forty × forty mm using the substrate RO4003C (dielectric constant of 3.thirty eight and thickness of 0.406 mm). The simulated and experimental results of the developed device show 3-octave bandwidths (155p.c fractional bandwidth) with isolation >15 dB across the investigated band from one to 8 GHz. Likewise, the device provides a <±2° differential section between the in-phase output ports across the full frequency band.
