Dynamic Performances of the Electromagnetic Rail Launcher

ABSTRACT:

To get a rail-kind electromagnetic launcher with large electrodynamic force, low temperature rise, and high structure strength, this paper investigates the performance of a pulsed current electromagnetic rail launcher (EMRL). In keeping with the investigation, the inductance gradient and current-carrying capacity are determined. Based on the analysis of mechanical properties of the EMRL, armature, and bolt, the corresponding conclusions are achieved. These conclusions can establish the muse for further research on the mechanism of the rail-kind electromagnetic launcher.
