ABSTRACT:

Wireless microwave signals can be more effi ciently converted to lightwave signals in a new design of electro-optic (EO) microwave-lightwave converter. A team at Osaka University have found that they can increase sensitivity by 10 dB by employing an optical waveguide with a quasi-phase matching (QPM) array of rectangular patch antennas, each containing a narrow gap.
