Low distortion input buffer for high resolution GS/s rate track-and-hold amplifiers


A unique input buffer for very high speed and high resolution track-and-hold amplifiers has been developed in BiCMOS technology. The configuration retains the advantages of a cascode configuration in terms of distortion and adaptability to numerous advanced switched-emitter (supply)-follower based mostly architectures whereas maintaining supply requirements the same as a typical degenerated common emitter amplifier. To demonstrate the benefits of the presented design a distortion analysis has been applied. The closed kind formulas show terribly good agreement with Spectre® simulations using complete models.
