Broadband compact InGaAs pin 5-bit digital attenuator using πtype resistive network


A broadband compact InGaAs pin 5-bit digital attenuator employing a p-kind resistive network is demonstrated. The proposed 5-bit digital attenuator consists of p-type resistive networks for smart input/ output matching and correct attenuation characteristics. The fabricated attenuator MMIC has good performance characteristics, such as an insertion loss but eleven.5 dB and a tiny RMS amplitude error of 2.three dB at the broadband frequency range of 7-40 GHz. Further, the chip size, which is considerably reduced by using the developed multilayer structure, is only one.fifty nine ?? 0.eighty four mm2.
