All-optical switchable Manchester decoder using semiconductor optical amplifier and optical delay line

ABSTRACT:

An all-optical Manchester decoder is proposed and experimentally demonstrated utilising cross-gain modulation in a semiconductor optical amplifier and tunable time delay in an optical delay line. The proposed scheme is switchable between inverted decoding and noninverted decoding for the input Manchester encoded signal at 10 Gbit/s application.
