Carbon Nanotube-Silicon Solar Cells: Improving performance for next-generation energy systems.
The one-dimensional electronic structure of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) provides appealing properties, including glorious optical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. Specifically, for lightweight-harvesting applications, SWCNTs are superior in terms of their wide absorption spectrum starting from near-infrared to visible wavelength, high electrical conductivity at high transparency, and doable multiple exciton generation. Abundance on Earth and chemical stability mean that a film made of SWCNTs may be a very promising candidate for next-generation solar cell applications.
