Reflections of an NSF Program Officer


Professionals today are connected while not effort. We are bombarded with email, pinged by messages, and often interrupted by phone calls. Business and personal networks encourage you to share everything you are doing with individuals you barely understand and with whom you're solely tangentially connected. One among the more outstanding skilled networks constantly encourages me to connect with people who understand people who may bear in mind me (suppose six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon). However are you really connected professionally? Your company (or university) probably offers networking opportunity on their intranet. Mine has created network communities based on my department, technology, product line, and even social diversity. There are information bases, councils focused on tools, and research sharing centers.
