Evaluation of the Lagrangian Method for Deriving Equivalent Circuits of Integrated Magnetic Components: A Case Study Using the Integrated Winding Coupled Inductor
Recently, Lagrangian dynamics are applied to reworking integrated magnetic parts into equivalent circuits of transformers and inductors. This Lagrangian technique is expected to yield constant circuit with few parts, when applied to an integrated magnetic element with few flux paths which will be magnetized independently. But, properness of this technique has not been verified. As a case study, this paper derives the equivalent circuit of the integrated winding coupled inductor using the Lagrangian methodology to guage consistency with the magnetic circuit model and experimental behavior. So, the Lagrangian technique yielded a easier equivalent circuit than those by the standard strategies. Additionally, the equivalent circuit of the Lagrangian technique is found to be functionally love the magnetic circuit model and in line with the experiment. These results support that the Lagrangian method provides correct equivalent circuits and is helpful for deriving simple equivalent circuits in some cases.
