A Long-Term Model of the Glucose–Insulin Dynamics of Type 1 Diabetes


A new glucose–insulin model is introduced which fits with the clinical information from in- and outpatients for 2 days. Its stability property is in line with the glycemia behavior for type one diabetes. This can be in contrast to ancient glucose–insulin models. Previous models work with clinical information for a few hours solely or display some nonnatural equilibria. The parameters of this new model are identifiable from commonplace clinical knowledge as continuous glucose monitoring, insulin injection, and carbohydrate estimate. Moreover, it is shown that the parameters from the model permit the computation of the standard tools employed in purposeful insulin therapy because the basal rate of insulin and therefore the insulin sensitivity issue. This is a serious outcome as they are needed in therapeutic education of type one diabetic patients.
