Novel noncoherent radar pulse integration to combat noise jamming

ABSTRACT:

In typical noncoherent radar pulse integration (NCPI), the radar receiver sums the envelope detector outputs obtained in multiple pulses from the target among one scan. A unique modification to NCPI is proposed in that the receiver first normalizes the envelope detector output in each vary bin by the sum of envelope detector outputs corresponding to all or any vary bins of a pulse. It is shown that the proposed theme yields significant performance gain against noise jamming.
