Studying History as It Unfolds, Part 2: Tooling Up the Historians


This article is the second in a very two-half series exploring the event of the early history of knowledge technologies, from the 1940s to this. This text describes the evolving data infrastructure utilized by historians in support of their analysis on the history of computing and of the role of IT practitioners, computer executives, scientists, and universities in making that support since the 1970s.
