Small-Size Hybrid Loop/Open-Slot Antenna for the LTE Smartphone


A tiny-size hybrid loop/open-slot antenna for the LTE smartphone is presented. The antenna is disposed in a small notch of $seven times forty;textmm^2$ within the system ground plane of the smartphone and features a thickness of 5.eight mm to be capable of embedding inside most modern smartphones. The antenna mainly includes a capacitively fed loop antenna and a ground strip embedded therein to form an open-slot antenna so as to come up with extra resonant modes for bandwidth enhancement. The antenna will give two wide operating bands to cover the LTE low band (698–960 MHz) and therefore the LTE middle/high bands (1710–2690/340zero–3800 MHz). During this study, the creation of the open-slot antenna employing a ground strip embedded in the bottom clearance region for the coupled-fed loop antenna is addressed.
