Pylon line spatial correlation assisted transmission line detection

ABSTRACT:

A transmission line is one among the most hazardous objects to low altitude flying aircraft. Thanks to its extremely small size and unsalient visual options, transmission line detection (TLD) is a well-recognized problem. In this paper, a completely unique TLD method is proposed with the assistance of the spatial correlation between pylon and line for TLD. 1st, a unidirectional spatial mapping is made up to explain the pylon line spatial correlation. Then, the proposed pylon line spatial correlation and alternative line features are integrated into a Bayesian framework, that is trained beforehand and used to estimate the probability of one line segment belonging to a transmission line. Compared with three alternative line-based mostly TLD methods, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique can get higher detection performance with higher detection rates and a lot of lower false alarm rates.
